The story behind the three Kuwait Towers

The journey to the Kuwait tower itself is a challenging one for me. No bus goes directly to the tower so I had to take a bus from the main bus station and had no idea where should I stop. When the towers were in my view, I descended the bus and walked to my destination.

The towers are without a doubt the most important landmark in Kuwait and appeared almost everywhere, stamps, postcards, moneys and even my hard rock cafe t shirt. As I arrived at the tower, I bought …

Watching Audrey Hepburn while sipping the coffee

by annyasin
I had the chance to visit Vianden during my weekend trip to Luxembourg. A beautiful town just 47km drive from Luxembourg city, Vianden is known for its impressive castle and is one of Luxembourg’s main tourist attractions.

Just before hiking up the hill to the castle, don’t forget to drop by at Ancien Cinema Café Club. Totally different from other normal cafés, this particular place is utterly dedicated to arts and culture. Film shows, jazz concerts, live music and art exhibitions are among the events frequently organized by the café.

Furthermore, …

Opera residence : A perfect accommodation in Budapest

I could see everyone’s smile as we entered our apartment in Budapest. We started running to choose our own bed, unpack our bed to do the laundry after 7 days travelling with dirty clothes, open the fridge (hoping there would be a welcome drink inside), playing with the television remote and not forgetting putting our CD that the muazzin in bosnia gave us inside the DVD player. All of these services were offered in our apartment. Sounds like a luxurious apartment isn’t it?

And not to forget, it is located in …

Shopping in Cevahir Istanbul- Europe biggest mall!

My first time there was less than a year of its opening. Opened in 2005, from date day till today, it has been the largest shopping mall in Europe.

Located in the modern side of European Istanbul, this mall can be easily reached by metro at the Sisli station. Upon entering the building, you will be surprise on how there will be an ‘airport security check’ which I found normal in Istanbul.

It is without a doubt a way to get away from the chaotic atmosphere of the grand bazaar or egyptian …

The mannekin pis story

This has always been the question that people asked me when we visited Bruxelles. Why does Petit Nicholas piss? What is the story behind this famous miniscule monument? And I never find the right answer for that. So, I’ve decided to do some research of this famous monument of Belgium, which is located at the junction of Rue de l’Étuve/Stoofstraat and Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat, near Grand Place Bruxelles, the Manneken Pis.

The funniest story, which I heard from my Germany’s friend Alan, he told me that it was back when …

Singapore special dish: Sup tulang

This will definitely be a must everytime I go to Singapore. My cousins and I will head ourself to Beach Road. There you can find a building with “Golden Mile food centre ” sign, also known as Malay hawker center. There you can find my favourite dish in Singapore, “sup tulang”.

They might have the same thing in Malaysia, known as gear box but it is definitely not the same thing.  The red sauce is simply unique and that’s what make it so special rather than the ‘gearbox soup’ in Malaysia. …

Tallinn in amazing race: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

It was impressive to see it on Amazing Race today. One of my favourite monument in the capital of Estonian, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. An orthodox cathedral, situated on the top of the hill of Toombea.

I was without a doubt intrigued by the beauty of the Russian Architecture, which without a doubt remind me of the architecture of Kremlin in Moscow. It was almost been destroyed by Estonian nationalist who saw it as a symbol of opression. Luckily the decision was never implemented due to lack of funds and the …

Posada dona lupe – Hostel just in front of Alhambra

Fourteen of us were on our “Tour d’Espana” by car and none of us was cultivated enough to realize that Granada is famous for Alhambra and it is a must place to go. I decided before the trip we would just stop for a night in Granada for sleep without visiting and nobody seemed to refuse.

It was the friendly lady,  still with courage waiting for our arrival at midnight, that questioned us “What the hell are you doing in Granada without visiting Alhambra.” After debating for almost 15 minutes, she …

… crisp apple streudels! These are a few of my favorite things

The lyrics of song from the sound of music kept chanting on my head when I was in Austria. One of them was “my favourite thing” and a particuliar refrain kept my attention “Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels … These are a few of my favorite things!”

When I was in Austria, I told myself that I had to try at least once and it was totally worth having it.  After a long walk, I stopped myself in one of the pastry shop in Vienna’s most famous shopping street, …

Amazing race route info: Tivoli Stockholm

If you love travelling, you might be interested in watching the Amazing race. I was a little bit excited when my friend told me that they were heading to Sweden. And when I saw the clue, “head yourself to Tivoli Stockholm”, I screamed enthusiastically in front of my screen, as it was one of my destinations during my summer solo trip.

Located in the Djurgården partof Stockholm, I headed there by taking the 47 bus from the Central Station heading to Skansen. In Sunday’s amazing race however, the participants took a …
