The story behind the three Kuwait Towers

The journey to the Kuwait tower itself is a challenging one for me. No bus goes directly to the tower so I had to take a bus from the main bus station and had no idea where should I stop. When the towers were in my view, I descended the bus and walked to my destination.

The towers are without a doubt the most important landmark in Kuwait and appeared almost everywhere, stamps, postcards, moneys and even my hard rock cafe t shirt. As I arrived at the tower, I bought …

Shopping in Cevahir Istanbul- Europe biggest mall!

My first time there was less than a year of its opening. Opened in 2005, from date day till today, it has been the largest shopping mall in Europe.

Located in the modern side of European Istanbul, this mall can be easily reached by metro at the Sisli station. Upon entering the building, you will be surprise on how there will be an ‘airport security check’ which I found normal in Istanbul.

It is without a doubt a way to get away from the chaotic atmosphere of the grand bazaar or egyptian …

The mannekin pis story

This has always been the question that people asked me when we visited Bruxelles. Why does Petit Nicholas piss? What is the story behind this famous miniscule monument? And I never find the right answer for that. So, I’ve decided to do some research of this famous monument of Belgium, which is located at the junction of Rue de l’Étuve/Stoofstraat and Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat, near Grand Place Bruxelles, the Manneken Pis.

The funniest story, which I heard from my Germany’s friend Alan, he told me that it was back when …

Tallinn in amazing race: Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

It was impressive to see it on Amazing Race today. One of my favourite monument in the capital of Estonian, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. An orthodox cathedral, situated on the top of the hill of Toombea.

I was without a doubt intrigued by the beauty of the Russian Architecture, which without a doubt remind me of the architecture of Kremlin in Moscow. It was almost been destroyed by Estonian nationalist who saw it as a symbol of opression. Luckily the decision was never implemented due to lack of funds and the …

Amazing race route info: Tivoli Stockholm

If you love travelling, you might be interested in watching the Amazing race. I was a little bit excited when my friend told me that they were heading to Sweden. And when I saw the clue, “head yourself to Tivoli Stockholm”, I screamed enthusiastically in front of my screen, as it was one of my destinations during my summer solo trip.

Located in the Djurgården partof Stockholm, I headed there by taking the 47 bus from the Central Station heading to Skansen. In Sunday’s amazing race however, the participants took a …

The freshest fish of Istanbul in Balik Pazari

As you walk on the the famous Istiklal Caddesi in Istanbul, from Taksim heading to Galatasaray Lisesi, just be aware on the right side of the road. Not far before arriving Galatasary Lisesi, you will find one of my favourite spot to have seafood in Istanbul, Balik Pazari

Literally translated as fish market, this is the area where you can find the freshest seafood from all around Turkey. Ranging from octopus from Bodrum, calamari from Antalya, shrimp from Çanakkale and grouper from Saroz Bay. When …

Two in a one, Maastricht

By annyasin
I’ve always been a bookshop lover but this one particular charming bookshop is different from the others. Located in a very unusual place – in a beautifully restored 13th-century Dominican church, the Selexyz Dominicanen is THE reason I went to Maastricht.

Nice bookshop or splendid architecture? Selexyz Dominicanen has both!
The church-turned-bookshop is located right next to the entirely redesigned Entre Deux shopping centre and close to Maastricht’s famous Vrijthof square. The bookshop is one of the projects marvelously done by Dutch architects, Merkx + Girod, who also worked on the …

Shopping in Milan?

We’ve just stopped by in Milan for few hours on our way from Grenoble (via Turin) to Venice. And when you stop just for a while in Milan, at least you must visit Galleria Vittoria Emanuele.

It is in fact an elegant roofed-over shopping center with world famous boutique, to name a few Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Prada. It is a historical building, built on the 19th century and it was name after the reigning king of Italy, who was in fact the first king of Italy after unification.

I simply love …

The beauty of Holland is in Zaanse Schans

Holland has always been associated with windmill. Yet some of my friends who went to Amsterdam came back disapointed of not seeing any windmill during their visit. My suggestion, when you go to Amsterdam, go a little bit on the north est and head yourself to Zaanse Schans.

Zaanse Schaans is an extraordinary windmill village with traditional Dutch wooden house, tulips gardens, clog factory and craft center. Some of the windmill here is still in use. And you can enter inside some of them and the beautiful scenery awaits you.

Another highlight …

Where can you get the best view of Budapest?

Take the tram number 41, 47 or 49, or bus number 7 or 86, get off at Gellert Hill on the Buda site of Budapest (the hilly side) and just enjoy the view. You can without a doubt arrive to this area by simply climbing the hill!

The hill rised 140 m above the Danube, and located on the Buda site of Budapest. It is named after Bishop Gellert, a bishop that came all the way from Italy after being invited by King Saint Stephen, to spread Christianity …
